Academics at the Upper School Level
At Carrollwood Day School, the transition from the Middle Years Programme (MYP) to the Diploma Programme (DP) is a significant step in students’ academic development. The MYP, which spans grades 6 through 10, focuses on building a strong foundation of critical thinking, interdisciplinary learning, and global awareness. In grades 9 and 10, students continue to develop these skills through a curriculum designed to encourage inquiry and connection across subjects. |
In grades 11 and 12, students transition into the Diploma Programme (DP), where they engage in a more focused and rigorous curriculum. The DP challenges students to deepen their knowledge in specific subjects while also developing critical thinking, time management, and research skills. With the option to pursue the full IB Diploma, be a CDS Course Candidate take some IB exams, or be a CDS graduate, students continue to build on their MYP foundation, preparing for college and beyond with a global perspective and a strong academic foundation. Even if a student chooses not to take the IB exams at the end of their 12th-grade year, they are still enrolled in the IB curriculum during their 11th and 12th-grade years. |
