Academics in the Middle School
Carrollwood Day School’s Middle School bridges foundational learning and Upper School readiness through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP). Our inquiry-based curriculum encourages critical thinking, global awareness, and real-world connections.
Students explore core subjects—language and literature, math, sciences, individuals and societies, and world languages—alongside electives in arts, technology, and physical education. Hands-on projects and interdisciplinary units enhance learning, while Round Square activities offer global engagement.
With a focus on academic excellence and personal growth, CDS prepares students to thrive in Upper School and beyond.
Academics at the Middle School Level
CDS Middle School provides a bridge for children in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade between the self-contained elementary classroom and departmentalized high school programs. Designed to meet the needs of early adolescence, Middle School helps a student develop skills, independence, and a sense of self.
Through an inquiry-based curriculum, interdisciplinary projects, and a focus on key skills like collaboration and self-management, the MYP helps students develop a deeper understanding of their subjects while fostering personal growth. At CDS, the MYP empowers students to become confident, independent thinkers prepared for the challenges of upper school and beyond. |
