Patriot Pathways: Redefining the Career Fair Experience
Step into Patriot Pathways, where inspiration meets opportunity, and students explore the possibilities of their future. This reimagined CDS career fair connects them with real people, real stories, and real pathways forward.

There was a moment, just after the opening rally and keynote speaker, when something shifted across the Carrollwood Day School campus. It wasn’t just excitement; it was a sense of awareness and a quiet realization that this day was going to be different. Students weren’t simply attending another event. They were stepping into something created with them in mind, something that felt immediate, relevant, and full of possibility. That moment marked the beginning of our inaugural Patriot Pathways Career Day.
For years, the annual career fair offered a valuable introduction to life beyond CDS. But with the launch of the Entrepreneurial Institute in 2025, it became clear that students needed more than exposure.
They needed involvement. They needed connection. They needed inspiration.
Most importantly, they needed the opportunity to actively engage with what their futures could become. Patriot Pathways was designed to meet that moment.
From the very beginning, the Patriot Pathways experience felt intentional. And this experience wasn’t just built for students; it was built by students. Our Pathway Ambassadors played a central role in bringing the day to life, designing logistics, guiding peers to sessions, monitoring speaker panels, supporting presenters, and even training students on the event app during advisory time. Their leadership made the experience feel authentic, engaging, and truly student-driven. With oversight by our Director of Entrepreneurship, Brendan Brennan, the day was thoughtfully structured to maximize both participation and impact.

The opening keynote by Rajesh Anandan set the tone, inviting students to look beyond conventional paths and consider how their ideas could create meaningful change. It reframed the question entirely. This wasn’t about choosing a job. It was about imagining a future.
That mindset carried seamlessly into a series of lightning talks led by alumni and community leaders whose paths felt both impressive and within reach. Nearly thirty professionals stepped into the space not just as experts, but as storytellers. Their sessions were crafted in ways that immediately drew students in, with titles that sparked curiosity and hinted at the real experiences behind them. Here is a glimpse of the options students were presented:
“Turning Dirt Into Dollars: How to Build a Business from the Ground Up”
“Know Your Worth: Navigating the Legal Maze of Name, Image, and Likeness”
“Helicopters, Jets, and NICUs: The High-Stakes World of Flight Nursing”
Students didn’t just receive an outline of career fields, they saw open doors, and a glimpse into worlds they could begin to see themselves in.
As the day unfolded, students moved with intention, choosing sessions that reflected their evolving interests. That sense of agency was at the heart of the experience. Some leaned into the fast-paced thinking of entrepreneurship and finance, while others explored the human impact of healthcare, the innovation behind engineering, or the purpose found in public service and the arts. Each decision helped refine not just what they were interested in, but who they were becoming.

Two panels emerged as defining moments. The Future of Work panel, moderated by Mia Sullivan ‘28, brought together voices like Rajesh Anandan, Javier Illas, Adam Walton, and Carrie Weintraub. Their conversation was candid and thought-provoking, offering insight into leadership, adaptability, and the realities of navigating a constantly evolving professional landscape. Students didn’t sit back. They leaned in, asking questions, sharing perspectives, and engaging in real time.
The Future of Sport panel, moderated by Dan Bergin, carried that same energy. Industry professionals, including Scott Haas, Jodie Libadisos, and Leon Mohan, explored the changing world of athletics, from the business behind the game to the growing influence of Name, Image, and Likeness. For student athletes, it was more than a conversation. It was a look at the realities and responsibilities that come with competing at the next level.
Throughout the day, technology quietly enhanced the experience without ever distracting from it. Personalized schedules, live Q&A, session recommendations, and built-in reflection tools encouraged students to take ownership of their journey in real time. They weren’t just attending sessions. They were tracking what resonated, engaging directly with speakers, and capturing ideas that will continue to shape their thinking long after the day ended.

What ultimately set Patriot Pathways apart wasn’t just its structure or its speakers. It was the shift in ownership. Students weren’t being told what their future should look like. They were given the space, the access, and the confidence to begin defining it for themselves. And that is where the real impact begins.
Patriot Pathways is not a single day. It is the start of something ongoing.
The conversations sparked here will grow into mentorships. The connections made will lead to internships.
The ideas explored will continue to evolve into passions, pursuits, and, eventually, professions.
In its very first year, Patriot Pathways did more than replace the traditional career fair. It redefined what it means to prepare students for what comes next. And if that opening moment was any indication, this is only the beginning.
