Carrollwood Day School Speech & Debate Shines in a Season of Success

Carrollwood Day School’s Upper School Speech and Debate team has had an exceptional start to the season, earning top honors across multiple tournaments and showcasing their skill, confidence, and dedication to the art of communication. Competing against some of the strongest programs in the region, our Patriots have demonstrated not only eloquence and critical thinking, but also the spirit of sportsmanship and perseverance that define CDS.

FGCCFL 1 – Strawberry Crest High School
The season opened with strong performances and powerful arguments.

  • Gabriel L. took 1st Place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, making a commanding start to the season.
  • Parsa & Owen impressed with their teamwork and strategy, earning 3rd Place in Policy Debate.

FGCCFL 2 – Newsome High School
The momentum continued at Newsome, where CDS debaters and speakers once again rose to the challenge.

  • Kaitlyn Nolt delivered a moving performance to earn 1st Place in Declamation.
  • Bryce Nolt showcased sharp reasoning and composure in the arena, taking 4th Place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
  • Lauren Anglim brought her dramatic talents to the stage, earning 4th Place in Dramatic Performance.

FGCCFL 3 – Hillsborough High School
The third tournament of the season brought an incredible turnout and an outstanding showing from the entire team. Every participant gave their all, with several students placing among the best in their divisions:

  • Taksheel Ganji1st Place, Declamation
  • Lauren Anglim2nd Place, Dramatic Interpretation
  • Alyssa Chen2nd Place, Extemporaneous Speaking
  • Skylar Rogers-Peters3rd Place, Congressional Debate (Chamber 2)
  • Gabriel Lopez2nd Place, Lincoln-Douglas Debate
  • Shania Bokhari3rd Place, Lincoln-Douglas Debate

 

From compelling speeches to powerful debates, each competition reflected the countless hours of preparation, practice, and passion that our students pour into their craft. The CDS Speech and Debate team continues to embody what it means to be articulate, thoughtful, and fearless communicators—skills that will serve them well beyond the podium.
