Alumni Update: Collin DeBosier '13
A true CDS lifer, Collin DeBosier '13 has returned to his roots, opening Carrollwood Veterinary Clinic in Tampa and bringing personalized pet care to the community he has always called home.
Discover how his CDS roots helped shape his journey.
For Collin DeBosier ’13, Carrollwood Day School has always been more than a school. A true CDS “lifer,” Collin began attending at age three and stayed through graduation, growing up alongside the community that shaped so many of his most meaningful relationships and memories. Today, that lifelong connection to Tampa continues to influence his work as a veterinarian and the newest chapter of his professional journey: opening his own practice right here at home.
Building a Foundation for Success
After graduating from CDS in 2013, Collin earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Florida State University in just three years, thanks in part to the college credit he earned through the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. He then went on to Michigan State University to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Following veterinary school, Collin began his career in an animal emergency room before moving to Atlanta to be closer to his future wife, Haley (Edson) DeBosier '13. There, he transitioned into general practice, eventually returning to Tampa in 2022 to work in the emergency department at BluePearl Pet Hospital. His experience in emergency medicine strengthened his clinical expertise, but the demanding schedule also made it difficult to spend time with family. He began looking for a different way to practice veterinary medicine, one that would allow him to provide comprehensive care while building lasting relationships with pets and their families.
Turning a Vision into Reality
That vision became Carrollwood Veterinary Clinic, an independent, locally owned practice that Collin opened in summer 2026. Bringing the clinic to life meant navigating regulations, coordinating contractors, and helping renovate the space, all while learning the ins and outs of running a business. Collin and Haley even rolled up their sleeves and repainted the entire interior themselves.
Today, Collin combines his experience in general practice and emergency medicine to provide personalized care for pets at every stage of life. With particular interests in surgery and emergency care, he is committed to helping families understand their pets’ conditions and treatment options so they can make informed decisions based on what is best for each individual patient.
At Carrollwood Veterinary Clinic, compassionate, personalized care is at the heart of the practice. Services include preventive wellness care, treatment for complex medical conditions, urgent care, and surgery.

In Collin’s Words: Memories of CDS
What was your experience like as a student at CDS?
CDS was a huge part of my life growing up. I started there when I was three years old and stayed all the way through graduating high school, so it was much more than just the school I attended. I essentially grew up there. I went through so many different stages of life with the same community around me, and many of the friendships and relationships I formed at CDS have continued well beyond graduation. Most importantly, it is also where I met my wife Haley, which makes CDS an especially meaningful part of both of our lives.
What were the most positive aspects of your time at CDS?
One of the biggest positives was the sense of community. Because I was there for so long, I had the opportunity to build genuine relationships with classmates, teachers, coaches, and other members of the CDS community. It was a place where people knew each other well, and I think that made the experience much more personal than simply going to school every day. I also appreciated being able to grow up in one community from early childhood through high school and having so many shared experiences and memories with people I had known for years.
What is one of your favorite memories of CDS?
It is difficult to pick one specific memory after spending so many years at CDS. Some of my favorite memories are really the everyday ones—spending time with friends, playing sports, school events, and all of the experiences that came with growing up in such a small, familiar community. The one memory that stands out is when I told Haley that someone had hit her car in the parking lot to get her to go look at it, when what actually happened is that I wrote on her car asking if she would go to prom with me. It was the start of our relationship and being able to look back on it as really the start of the rest of our lives together makes it not only a fun memory, but an important one too.
What is one of your favorite CDS traditions you participated in?
There were a lot of CDS traditions that became part of the experience after being there for so many years. The one that comes to mind when thinking about my entire time at CDS is Patriot Buddies because it was cool being able to see how much I had grown in my time at CDS from when I first started through high school. It really just put into perspective how much CDS was a part of my life and how far I had come during my time there. Honorable mention to the fall festival when we would be able to pick which teachers we wanted to dunk in the dunk tank, that was always a fun time for all of us students and the teachers were always great sports about it!
For Collin, the journey from CDS lifer to veterinary practice owner has come with plenty of learning and hard work, but it has also brought him back to the community he has always called home. In a full-circle connection to his school days, CDS is where he met Haley, making the community an important part of both his personal story and the life they are building together.
