Bearss Avenue Extended Day
For those students in elementary school needing supervision beyond traditional school hours, Carrollwood Day School offers an after-school care program. Staffed by members of the CDS community, the after-school care program ensures that our children have a safe and enjoyable environment, even beyond the classroom.
The after care program begins at dismissal each day and is available throughout the afternoon until 6:00 p.m. Students are offered a healthy snack to start their afternoon, while playing games and socializing, and then transition into an organized schedule.
Students are invited to participate in a variety of fun and educational activities. There is also designated homework time, where students work on homework or reading. After care staff are available during this time for one-on-one homework help.
Students may come later to after care if they are participating in school-sponsored events such as Art Club or intramural sports.
After Care is available until 6:00 p.m. every day there is school with the exception of No Student Days and 1/2 days due to holidays. Students who stay for After Care on half-days need to bring their lunch and a beverage; school lunches are not served on half-days.
After Care is located in the Elementary Multi-Purpose Room on the Bearss Avenue campus.
All elementary After Care students will be dismissed from the bus loop side of the Elementary Multi-Purpose Room. After 3:45 p.m., parents can pull into the School Bus Loop and pick-up children from the glass doors facing the bus loop. Parents are requested not to come through the elementary school office to pick up from After Care.
Please feel free to reach out to our after care department at any time during hours of operation. Normal daily hours are 3:05 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Before School Care
Students can be dropped off at the Bearss Avenue campus beginning at 7:30 a.m. Elementary students who are dropped off early need to go to the Elementary Multi-Purpose Room. Middle school and upper school students may wait in the student lounges until they can enter their classrooms. Students who come early can read, talk quietly to others, or relax and prepare for the day.
ECC students with older siblings may also be dropped off at 7:30 a.m. at the Bearss Avenue campus. There is a shuttle bus that will bring them to the ECC at 7:50 a.m. Please complete a transportation form to register your child to ride the ECC shuttle bus. Questions?
