Barry Chamberlin and his family will join the Patriot Nation in July 2022.

Barry Chamberlin

It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the selection of Barry Chamberlin as the next Athletic Director for Carrollwood Day School. Chamberlin comes to CDS after 11 years at Saint Mary’s Hall, an independent preschool through 12th grade school in San Antonio, TX where he has served as the Athletic Director since 2018. He is a proven leader with exceptional organization, community building, and social-emotional skills who has over 14 years of athletic administration experience and 18 years of coaching/teaching experience with 11 as a Varsity Head Basketball Coach.

Head of School, Sara Rubinstein, is “thrilled to be welcoming Barry and his family to CDS. Throughout the interview process, I was beyond impressed by Barry's expertise, enthusiasm for developing competitive athletic programs in an environment of rigorous scholarship, and his true devotion to character education. I look forward to seeing what he brings to Patriot Nation in the years ahead."

With his extensive background in independent education, Chamberlin understands the value athletics adds to the scholar-athlete’s school experience. He is committed to developing an athletic program that intentionally builds scaffolding between teachers and coaches to help promote the student-athletes’ growth and development in all aspects of life.

Chamberlin greatly appreciates and aligns with Carrollwood Day School’s mission and focus on an education with character and inspiring entrepreneurial thinkers. “I envision the athletic department playing a key role in bolstering these values by incorporating an emphasis on integrity, process-based improvement, and reinforcing the value of both a growth and entrepreneurial mindset. My philosophy is student centered and concentrates on building relationships, fostering a growth mindset in each student-athlete and coach, as well as inspiring them to maximize their potential and dare greatly as they begin their own leadership journey.”

Barry and his wife, Jill, visited CDS in March. We look forward to welcoming them and their two sons (entering grades 1 and 4) to Patriot Nation in July.
