National Signing Day at CDS

Three senior volleyball players were recognized for their achievements before signing letters of intent for their prospective colleges.

Wednesday, November 10th was the first day that senior athletes (Class of 2022) — in all sports except football — could officially sign a letter of intent to play their sport for a college or university. CDS Upper School gathered in the Hayes Family Gymnasium to celebrate three outstanding scholar-athletes who have earned the opportunity to play at the collegiate level next year. Athletic Director, Baker Mabry recognized these dedicated players for being a huge part of our volleyball team, having put in many hours during their high school and club seasons to make their dreams a reality.

A CDS “Lifer” who has attended CDS since kindergarten, Jessie G. signed her letter of intent to play Division 1 volleyball at Brown University. Jessie has been playing varsity volleyball for CDS since her 8th grade year and has set numerous school records along the way.

Laney H. signed with Oglethorpe University. Laney has been playing varsity volleyball for CDS for four years and was recently selected by Positive Coaching Alliance-Tampa Bay as one of 25 winners of Triple-Impact Competitor® Scholarship Awards for the Class of 2022! PCA recognizes student-athletes who have shown a positive impact in sport on three levels: by making themselves, their teammates, and their communities better. Selected winners participate in a year-long program, gaining networking skills from business leaders and mentors, completing both video and in-person interviews, and promoting their school or club athletic team.

Jasmine W. is signing with The University of Arkansas at Monticello.  Jasmine began playing volleyball with U12 at Tampa Elite and has been playing varsity volleyball at CDS for three years. This season she broke the single season record for kills.

We could not be prouder of these scholar-athletes and their accomplishments.
