A Rare Perfect Score

Congratulations to Anika S. for earning every point possible on an AP exam!

CDS celebrates Anika S. ('24) for earning a perfect score on a college-level Advanced  Placement® (AP®) Exam in spring 2021. As a 9th grader, Anika took IB MYP Principles of Computer Science with Mr. Hayes. This course is one of the IB classes offered in the upper school that aligns with an AP exam. Colleges and universities around the world receive AP scores for college credit and added rigor, tremendously aiding their admission process as well as strengthening their achievement portfolio.

Anika's performance was so superior that it falls into a rather select category. AP® Exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5. Anika not only received the top score of 5, but was also one of only 335 students in the world to earn every point possible on the AP Computer Science Principles Exam, receiving the maximum score on each portion of the exam. Recognizing this impressive achievement, Tim Walsh, Head of Upper School, shares, "In my 26 years as an educator, I've had many students achieve 5's on AP exams but never a perfect score. This is an outstanding accomplishment for Anika and another example of the great things our students are doing each day here at CDS. Congratulations Anika!"

According to Trevor Packer, Head of the Advanced Placement Program, "This outstanding accomplishment is likely a direct reflection of the top-quality education being offered at Carrollwood Day School. We applaud Anika's hard work and the AP teacher responsible for engaging students and enabling them to excel in a college-level course."

Thank you to Bradley Hayes, Chair of the US Technology Department, and all our CDS teachers who help our students achieve their highest potential.
