Bolt Comes to Campus!

A high school senior continues the work started in 10th Grade for her MYP Personal Project. Next week, the Class of 2024 shares their passions at CDS's 14th Annual MYP Personal Project Fair.

Hallie & Bolt

CDS Senior, Hallie S., has been working with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Southeastern Guide Dogs to help handle Bolt, Southeastern Guide Dogs, and Tampa Bay Lightning's official ambassador for three years. During her time with him, she walks around the stadium during games for meet and greets and helps with the photography and training behind the scenes.

Hallie started with Southeastern Guide Dogs as her Personal Project and didn’t stop there! Over the years, she’s collected over 4,000 service hours and earned both the Personal Project Award and Anne Frank Humanitarian Award at the Florida Holocaust Museum. These hours came from sitting for 10 service dogs anywhere from a weekend to two months and training her first pup Jewel, who has been seen on the CDS campus. Jewel is currently a breeder at SEGD and recently had her first litter of 6 furballs!

Hallie is still undecided on where she will attend college next year but if life takes her to Purdue University (where she has been accepted) she plans to study animal behavior and training in the business of agriculture. If she instead chooses to accept the offer to go to Xavier, Hallie plans to double major in the schools of business and criminal justice with a minor of animal behavior. After college, Hallie wishes to train service, attack, bomb-sniffing, and search and rescue dogs professionally. We are so proud of this amazing Patriot and can't wait to see where life takes her.
