Fifth grade students apply their learning and take action to make a better world.
The PYP Exhibition is the culminating event that students at all PYP schools participate in during their final year in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. The Exhibition is an opportunity for students, during their last year in elementary school, to apply their learning and to take action as a result of their learning. Students use the PYP transdisciplinary skills: communication skills, social skills, research skills, self-management skills, and thinking skills as they "identify, investigate and offer solutions to real-life issues or problems."
Each of the five classes spent the semester working on student-driven collaborative inquiries into real-life issues they identified as important to them. This year the students focused their studies on the following central ideas:

An important component of the exhibition is for the students to engage the school community in their learning. Each year the fifth-grade classes identify ways they can take action and provide opportunities for the school community to unite to make a difference. This year's Exhibition was held the week of May 16 - 20. Each class presented on a specific day and shared an introduction to their topic. Their parents and student classes then got to participate in interactive stations.
The students did unbelievable in their research and presentation of their central ideas and the interactive booths were some of the most inventive we have seen. Well done 5th graders. You're ready for middle school.
