On Wednesday, April 3rd, Carrollwood Day School hosted an annual special event, the Alumni Parent Panel. This event was aimed at providing valuable insights and guidance to current Class of 2024 senior parents as they prepare for the next chapter in their children's lives. The Alumni Parent Panel brought together a diverse group of alumni parents, including Kim Casey (Carter '23 at Duke & Kara ‘21 at FSU), Bryan McGrath (Kiera ‘23 at University of Florida), Pam Miniati (Maddie ‘23 at Tufts University) and Nicola Fitzharris (Charlotte ‘23 at University of Georgia), to share their firsthand experiences and wisdom.
Throughout the evening, attendees had the opportunity to engage in candid conversations about college readiness, from navigating dorm life to adjusting to new academic challenges. The panelists offered valuable advice on topics ranging from meal plans to packing lists, providing invaluable perspectives on the transition from CDS to college.
Organized by Ashley Gerb, Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations Coordinator, and moderated by Danielle Cohen, Associate Director of College Counseling, the event fostered an environment of open dialogue and shared experiences. Senior parents gained valuable insights and reassurance as they embarked on this exciting journey with their soon-to-be-alumni.
The Alumni Parent Panel serves as a testament to the strong sense of community and support within the CDS family. As senior parents prepare to send their children off to college, they can take comfort in the knowledge that they are part of a caring and knowledgeable community dedicated to helping each other navigate the college journey with confidence and success beyond their years here on campus.
