Rising Ninth Grader Promotes Saying “NAH” to the Rising Obesity Problem in the US

Taksheel Ganji ‘28 decided to make a meaningful impact this summer. Instead of spending his summer idly, he tackled an issue close to his heart. Taksheel launched a campaign he’s calling "ObesityNahBeHappy,” after recognizing the growing problem of obesity in the USA and feeling a strong need to make a difference. He wants to celebrate every step towards a healthier life and promote saying "nah" to obesity. Taksheel is excited to share his journey and the significant impact he has already made.

"ObesityNahBeHappy" is more than just a campaign; it's a movement. It's about inspiring individuals to make small, everyday choices that lead to a healthier and happier life. Whether it's opting for a salad over fries, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or getting out there to play pickleball, every little step counts. The name of our campaign says it all – we're rejecting obesity and embracing happiness through healthier lifestyles.

I started this campaign because I believe in the power of community and the impact of collective effort. Our events, like the pickleball tournament held on July 20, are designed to bring people together, create lasting connections, and provide the support needed to make sustainable changes.

The recent pickleball tournament, with 45 enthusiastic participants, was a perfect example of what we aim to achieve. Watching everyone come together, whether they were seasoned players or newcomers, filled me with immense pride and hope. The laughter, camaraderie, and sheer joy on the courts were a testament to the power of community and physical activity. The success of this event shows that people are ready and willing to take on this challenge. I am incredibly proud of what we've achieved so far and am excited to continue this journey with all of you.

Taksheel is grateful to everyone who has supported and participated in the "ObesityNahBeHappy" campaign, and he looks forward to many more events and successes in the future. The CDS community is excited to see what Taksheel’s future holds as he continues to encourage healthy lifestyle changes, raise awareness of obesity, build a supportive community, inspire positive change, and celebrate the happiness found in progress. Taksheel’s passion, drive, and entrepreneurial spirit exemplify what it means to have Patriot Pride.
