The CDS community loves a good celebration and this month we are celebrating National Hispanic American Heritage Month. This is a time to learn about the accomplishments of our Hispanic community, as well as a time to embrace and learn about the Hispanic culture. From September 15 through October 15, as an IB World School and in an effort to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, CDS students have been and will continue to incorporate Hispanic culture into classroom activities, reading and writing, and fun opportunities as well.

Throughout the divisions, CDS students are reading books by Hispanic authors, sharing poetry and music with each other, and even dressing up in traditional Hispanic clothing for morning opening in elementary. This morning the area under the new Center for Innovation bridge was filled with music and laughter as the Middle School Spanish Honor Society sampled Refescos (Sodas) from Perú (Inka Cola), Cuba (Jupiña), Colombia (Champs Cola), and Caramelos from México. There was even a little Macarena dancing going on.
