Fifth grade students apply their learning and take action to make a better world.

2023 Exhibition

The PYP Exhibition, a momentous event at CDS marking the culmination of our student's journey through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, has been a resounding success! Our fifth-grade students from Mrs. Monty, Mrs. Viera, Mrs. Hamilton, Ms. Kerr, and Mrs. Rodriguez's classes embarked on a transformative experience that showcased their dedication, inquiry skills, and commitment to making a positive impact in the world.

Over the course of the semester, these young learners delved into student-driven collaborative inquiries, passionately exploring real-life issues that resonated with them. With the guidance of their teachers, they engaged in thought-provoking research, applying transdisciplinary skills such as communication, social interaction, research, self-management, and critical thinking. Their pursuit of knowledge led them to identify central ideas that formed the foundation of their projects.

Throughout this process, our fifth graders recognized the significance of involving the school community in their learning journey. They were determined to inspire action and create opportunities for collective impact. During the Exhibition week, which took place from May 15 to May 19, each class had their designated day to present their findings and introduce their chosen topics. The enthusiasm and passion radiated as they engaged their peers, parents, and fellow students through interactive stations, providing an immersive and empowering experience.

We commend our fifth graders for their remarkable achievements. Their dedication to thorough research and their ability to articulate complex concepts left us in awe. The interactive booths they created were a testament to their creativity and ingenuity, providing an unparalleled showcase of their learning journey.
