During the week of November 7th, 2022, Carrollwood Day School invited internationally acclaimed storyteller, writer, and educator, Laura Simms, for a visit to share remarkable and moving tales that teach connection and joy. Laura shared with middle school students and faculty how to tell a story for the unique reciprocity of storytelling engagement and how warmth and depth of understanding can have a profound effect on listeners.
Ms. Simms imparted her long history of the importance of using storytelling to connect with each other and that moment of story “gold” when you feel you have captured your audience’s attention and heart. Faculty and staff had the opportunity to sit with Laura to learn how the use of storytelling in classrooms can lead to a greater connection with students.
