Since his appointment as the Interim Director of College Counseling last summer, Drew Guarino and his team have managed this year of transition with skill and professionalism. Beyond the stability, leadership, and great service to families Mr. Guarino provided during his tenure, the outcomes seen by our College Counseling program have been outstanding.
- This year for the first time in CDS history we celebrated six seniors being named National Merit Finalists which is nearly unheard of for a school of our size.
- We also are celebrating a very successful college admissions season for our cohort of graduating seniors, with offers to join Ivy League universities, the service academies, and many other highly respected state and private institutions.
- Many of our student-athletes have accepted Division 1 athletic scholarships.
- Our ACT and SAT prep courses and college essay advisory sessions for our students, further open pathways to admission to the best universities at home and abroad. It's been a very successful year and we have a lot to celebrate!
This past week, Mr. Tim Walsh, Head of Upper School, made the following announcement, "With more than 10 years of experience both at the collegiate and secondary levels, Mr. Guarino has exhibited the commitment, leadership, skills, and personal qualities necessary to be successful in his leadership role and it is for this reason that I am pleased to be able to share with you that he has agreed to lead our College Counseling program into the future as our new Director of College Counseling. I hope you will join me in offering him congratulations on his appointment and appreciation for a job well done during his time as Interim Director of College Counseling this year."
Congratulations, Mr. Guarino!
