At Carrollwood Day School, we take immense pride in our students not only for their unwavering commitment to the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum but also for their pursuit of passions and interests beyond the classroom. Nitya Ragini Madabhushi, an upper school junior at CDS, recently achieved a remarkable milestone by completing her Bharatanatyam Arangetram on September 3rd, 2023, at the India Cultural Center.
The 165th Bharatanatyam Arangetram of Nritya Academy, guided by Guru Smt. Geetha Raaj was a grand event attended by more than 500 people. Nitya's performance was a testament to her dedication and years of training, marking her debut recital as a classical dancer.
Bharatanatyam is not just a dance form; it encompasses a deep understanding of Indian history, mythology, religion, customs, and culture. Nitya's journey is a reflection of her commitment to mastering this art form.
What makes Nitya's achievement even more special is her pursuit of a diploma in Bharatanatyam and her ongoing pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts in Dance through Alagappa University. This multifaceted approach to her passion demonstrates her dedication to excellence.
The event was graced by esteemed chief guests, including Tampa Councilman Luis Vera, Kuchipudi Maestro KV Satyanarayana, Alagappa University Chief Dr. Ram Vairavan, Cricket Council USA President Maq Qureshi, and internationally renowned Carnatic music singers Aishwarya and Saundarya. The presence of Mr. Mandeep Jangra, an Asian Games bronze medalist boxer from India, added to the event's prestige.
CDS faculty members also attended to support and celebrate Nitya's accomplishment. Her Arangetram certificate was awarded by Nritya Academy, and she received international recognition from two organizations, namely the Suswaralakshmi Foundation for Classical Music and Performing Arts from Bengaluru, India, and the KVS Trust India.
Nitya's journey exemplifies CDS's spirit of fostering well-rounded, passionate, and accomplished individuals who excel not only academically but also in their chosen pursuits. We look forward to celebrating more such milestones in the future as our students continue to shine in diverse fields.
