We are thrilled to congratulate Adassa P. on receiving the prestigious Anne Frank Humanitarian Award! This honor, bestowed by the Florida Holocaust Museum, recognizes the humanitarian actions of students who are dedicated to making the world a better place. By “doing the right thing,” these recipients embody the spirit of Anne Frank, who, despite facing immense hardships, never abandoned her ideals.
The Anne Frank Humanitarian Award (AFHA) program was created to highlight the positive actions of today’s teens. Adassa exemplifies this through her caring heart and philanthropic ethos. She actively participates in numerous service organizations, each with its own unique mission, demonstrating her commitment to diverse causes.
Adassa's journey is deeply rooted in her family history. Her parents emigrated from Russia to America, and she is fluent in both English and Russian. This bilingual ability has enabled her to tutor immigrants in English for several years, one of her favorite extracurricular activities. She volunteers through Nicer FL, the Newcomer Immigrant Educational Center, an organization dedicated to empowering recent refugees and new immigrants for successful integration into the economic, cultural, and social life of Tampa Bay and the Suncoast regions of Florida.
In addition to her work with Nicer FL, Adassa competed for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Student of the Year at Carrollwood Day School. Along with Izzy R., she raised significant funds for cancer research, showcasing her dedication to this cause. This competition involved extensive outreach to local community members to obtain in-kind donations and sponsorships, as well as hosting various fundraising events.
Adassa's leadership extends beyond these efforts. She served as co-president of the Beta Club and supported the See Us Now Foundation, an organization aiding foster children. What stands out about Adassa is her genuine approach to service. She does not volunteer just to add to her resume; she is thoughtful and intentional in her actions, dedicating her time to causes she truly cares about. Her reliability and responsibility make her a sought-after member of numerous organizations.
When Adassa speaks about her volunteer experiences, she shares stories of the people she has met and the lessons she has learned. Her passion for helping others and her commitment to making a difference are truly inspiring. Adassa embodies the essence of the Anne Frank Humanitarian Award, making a conscious decision to better the lives of others not only at Carrollwood Day School but throughout the greater Tampa Bay community.
Congratulations, Adassa, on this well-deserved recognition! Your dedication and compassion are an inspiration to us all.
