CDS Varsity Volleyball Digs Their Way to State Glory: A Championship Journey

In a triumphant season, the Carrollwood Day School Varsity Volleyball team has emerged as the State Champions, adding another remarkable chapter to their storied legacy. The team's exceptional performance is underscored by a slew of impressive achievements.

Boasting an undisputed dominance, the team clinched the #1 spot in the FHSAA 3A rankings, a testament to their outstanding skills and unwavering determination. National recognition was not far behind, with prestigious rankings—#13 by Prep Volleyball, #17 by Max Preps and #11 by USA Today—further solidifying their standing as one of the top teams in the country.

Individual brilliance shone through accolades as Naomi Chinchar secured the MVP title for FACA District 15, while Coach Doug Chinchar earned the well-deserved Coach of the Year honor in the same district. Back-to-back District Championships only reaffirmed the team's consistency and prowess.

Setting a new school record with an impressive 31-2 season, the team reached unprecedented heights. Star players Naomi Chinchar and Lydia Chinchar etched their names in CDS history—Naomi achieving her 3,000th career assist and Lydia achieving her 1,000th career kill.

As the team basks in the glory of their State Championship, Naomi Chinchar charts her course to the United States Military Academy at West Point, showcasing the caliber of athletes produced by CDS. The journey to this championship has been nothing short of extraordinary, marking a milestone season for the Varsity Volleyball team.

Some of the team recently sat down with the CDS Tech Lab for The Bridge Podcast where podcast host, Busean Baldwin learned the basic rules of volleyball and some team superstitions. Listen here.
