Carrollwood Day School kicked off the beginning of March with a CDS tradition...The Middle School Shakespeare Festival. The MS Shakespeare Festival serves as the culminating event following each grade level’s unit on the world’s most famous playwright. Students study Shakespeare's plays and conceive, write, direct, and produce their own class plays using contemporary settings and contemporary types of genre to emulate Shakespeare's plot lines.
To get into character, students dressed in Renaissance attire as they rotated through a fun-filled day of Renaissance-themed sporting events, arts and crafts, logic and wit puzzles, and student performances. This year, students even had the opportunity to pie a staff member or student council leader by donating to the non-profit organization, Way to Battle. Together, students and staff raised over $2500 to help support children and families experiencing hardships
A big thank you to all the Middle School Language Arts teachers for not only facilitating this tradition but for sharing their love for Shakespeare with our middle school students.
