CDS Senior wins 2022 Tribune scholars essay contest
Suhani S.

CDS Senior and Co-Salutatorian Suhani S. has one more accolade to add to her high school resume. Suhani has been named a winner in the 2022 R. F. "Red" Pittman Tribune Scholars program. The annual R.F. “Red” Pittman Tribune Scholars contest, named for a former publisher of the Tampa Tribune, is open to the top 3 percent by grade point average of seniors from Hillsborough County’s public and private high schools. Suhani is one of four students selected out of 111 entries to receive the scholarship this year. The winners will be recognized at an honoring ceremony on May 19 and her essay will be printed in the Tampa Tribune. Drew Guarino, CDS Director of College Counseling is honored to speak on her behalf at the ceremony.

Suhani plans to attend University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in the fall.

This is the second year in a row that a CDS senior has been selected for this honor. 2021 Valedictorian, Ellen Jannereth, was chosen as a recipient of the R.F. "Red" Pittman Tribune Scholarship last year.
