Carrollwood Day School is proud to announce that senior Lisabeth "Libby" Gunter has been accepted into Wellesley College with the prestigious QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship, covering her tuition and related expenses for four years. This significant achievement reflects not only Libby's academic excellence but also her impactful contributions to the CDS community.
Libby expressed her gratitude, saying, "I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity that has been given to me. I genuinely cannot thank my teachers, friends, family, and mentors who have helped me throughout this entire process enough. I would not have been able to do this without them."
During her time at CDS, Libby has showcased her talents in both music and theatre, playing a vital role in the upper school band and taking the stage in various productions, including Footloose, Clue, and Matilda.
Heading to Wellesley College, Libby aims to pursue a degree in Philosophy. Her accomplishments at CDS, coupled with her dedication, positioned her favorably among this year's QuestBridge applicants. Out of over 20,800 candidates, 6,683 were selected as Finalists for the QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship, a testament to Libby's academic prowess and character.
This year marked a historic milestone for QuestBridge, with 50 college partners matching with 2,242 Finalists, the largest number of Match Scholarship Recipients in the organization's history. Ana Rowena Mallari, Co-Founder and CEO of QuestBridge, expressed excitement about welcoming this exceptional community of scholars, noting their intellectual depth and character.
The Match Scholarship provides Libby and other recipients with a full four-year financial aid package, covering tuition, housing, meals, books, supplies, and travel expenses. Importantly, it eliminates the need for loans or parental contributions, ensuring an affordable education at top-tier colleges.
Libby's success in securing the QuestBridge scholarship is a testament to the unwavering support and guidance provided by Sharon Bikoundou and the entire CDS College Counseling Department. Their commitment to going above and beyond for students and families is reflected in the personalized assistance and mentorship that played a crucial role in Libby's scholarship application process.
Carrollwood Day School extends its heartfelt congratulations to Libby Gunter, recognizing her as an outstanding scholar, artist, and contributor to the CDS community. As she embarks on her journey at Wellesley College, we wish her continued success and fulfillment in her academic pursuits and beyond.
