The National Business Honor Society (NBHS) at Carrollwood Day School hosted its first Business Roundtable Event in conjunction with the 2023 CDS NBHS Induction. It was an exciting morning with discussions, inspiration and learning.
NBHS gracefully inducted 24 new members! Part of the aims of NBHS is to "foster and recognize leadership skills and character development, help members grow ethically and socially, and promote an interest in business." This year CDS advisors wanted the induction ceremony to provide a more meaningful experience for our new and existing members, hence why this event developed into a Roundtable event to have personal conversations with business leaders from the Tampa Bay community.
It was set up like a "speed networking" event where each of the guest speakers was asked to host one of the designated tables in our Wagner Entrepreneur Center. At each table, there were over a dozen conversation topic cards. Small groups of students visited each table for 5-8 minutes and drew 1-2 cards with questions/advice/story prompts for the speaker. (For example, a few included: "Tell us about your favorite success story in your career so far." "Share with us some tips that have helped you build your personal brand." "What skills do you think young professionals need to improve now?") The honor society advisors signaled to the students when their group should rotate to the next roundtable & speaker so that the students were able to have personal conversations with all six speakers. It was an impressive list of business professionals representing diverse industries and Carrollwood Day School thanks them all for taking time out of their busy days to share their experiences. At the close of the roundtable session, our students then had their official induction ceremony.
Thank you to our Speakers who joined us to share their journey with our CDS students;
Robb Higgins - Executive Director Tampa Bay Sports Commission
Pam Miniati - Co-Executive Director Florida-Israel Business Accelerator
