This fall, we celebrated the achievements of twelve outstanding student-athletes who have committed to continuing their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level. Early Signing Days highlight the dedication, perseverance, and talent that define CDS’s athletic program and its remarkable student-athletes.
This year’s Signing Days were particularly special, with nine members of the Patriots football team, one exceptional golfer, and two top volleyball players putting pen to paper to secure their futures at prestigious institutions. These ceremonies were a testament to the hard work of these athletes and the support of their coaches, families, and teammates who have been integral to their journeys.
In November, CDS celebrated the commitments of two remarkable student-athletes, Sarah Dibbs-Frantz and Mattie Casale. Sarah signed her letter of intent with Virginia Commonwealth University, and Mattie signed with Purdue University, marking the start of their collegiate athletic journeys. Their dedication to their sports and academics exemplifies the high standards upheld by CDS athletes, and their successes set the tone for the December Signing Day event.
Among the December signees was Olivia Hasselbach, a senior golfer whose impressive career at CDS reached its pinnacle this season. Olivia signed her letter of intent with Furman University. She recently capped her high school career with a standout performance at the Class 1A state tournament, finishing tied for sixth place with a two-round score of 5-under par (69-71-139). Her journey from the fairways of CDS to collegiate golf is an inspiration to aspiring athletes.
The CDS football program proudly celebrated nine of its players committing to colleges across the nation:
- Jordan Magwood (Quarterback) - Florida Atlantic University
- Gerrick Gordon (Lineman) - University of South Florida
- Garrett Weisgerber (Lineman) - Mercer University
- Ziyare Addison (Lineman) - University of Oregon
- Drew Fuentes (Lineman) - University of Central Florida
- Zach Johnson (Lineman) - University of Alabama-Birmingham
- Josh Robinson (Receiver) - Princeton University
- Steven Vargo (Defensive Back) - Bowdoin College
- Alec Maxton (Lineman) - Hampden-Sydney College
Both Fall Signing Day ceremonies are more than just celebrations; they are a reflection of the incredible potential and promise of these student-athletes. As they prepare to embark on the next chapter of their journeys, they carry with them the pride of the entire CDS community. Each of these athletes has left an indelible mark on our athletics programs, and embodies the school’s values of character, discipline, and sportsmanship, and their college commitments reflect the caliber of talent at CDS. Their success is a reminder of what is possible when talent meets opportunity, and determination meets support.
Congratulations to all our signees! Your achievements inspire us, and we look forward to watching your continued success on and off the field, court, and green. Go, Patriots!
