On October 21, 2022, the student union at Carrollwood Day School was transformed to celebrate our 3rd annual Taste of India event. CDS welcomed our community and members of the Tampa community to enjoy delicious food, henna artistry, music, and wonderful performances showcasing the beautiful Indian culture.
Through music and movement, the dancers told a story with each performance. Along with a tapestry of beautiful clothing, the audience was transported to different parts of India. At CDS the theme of international is woven so tightly throughout our academic and social-emotional educational programs. Our students learn about other cultures alongside lessons of math and/or science. However, there is something magical that happens when immersed in another culture's traditions. When watching Bollywood dancing, you can't help but fall in love with the traditions and by extension the people. As you scoop up delicious Murg Makhani and Tikka Masala with your Naan and laugh with your neighbors the theme of community is felt. In short, A Taste of India was a magical evening. One that has become something to look forward to at CDS.
Thank you to all of our performers. Your love of dance and community was felt. A big thank you Kwality Fusion for providing the most delicious and aromatic Indian cuisine. Thank you to Mrs. Spencer and Mr. Hayes for organizing an unforgettable event. Thank you to Mr. Gene Kish for making sure the stage lights were set so we could revel in the beautiful costumes and that the sound allowed us to hear each and every little jingle of the bells and drum beat. And thank you to Mrs. Sara Rubinstein for supporting our amazing Indian community at CDS. We can't wait till next year's event!
