Aliya Killion comes to CDS with 18 years experience in education to fill the newly created position of Middle School Learning Specialist. Aliya Killion comes to CDS having most recently been the ESE Specialist at Oak Park Middle School in Lake County, Florida. Prior to that, Ms. Killion was the Assistant Director of the Florida Inclusion Network at the University of South Florida. There she provided technical assistance and services to 13 school districts in central Florida in order to increase the inclusion and meaningful participation of students with support needs and learning differences in general education classes. Ms. Killion began her teaching career at PACE Center for Girls in Tampa, where she was the Language Arts and special education teacher, and later the program's Academic Manager.

Ms. Killion enjoys working with diverse learners and acting as part of a team to take a strengths-based approach to facilitating the success of all students. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Education at the University of South Florida and is the very proud mother of a 6 year old daughter. She is looking forward to being a part of the CDS Middle School team.
