Carrollwood Day School - Health & Safety Statement
The safety and health of our faculty, staff, students, and families are always our top priorities at Carrollwood Day School (CDS). The school administration and Health snd Safety Committee will continue to monitor conditions within our community and recommendations issued by public health officials in case a change to current policies is warranted.
Prevention Tips
There are simple everyday actions you can take to help prevent the spread of all respiratory viruses. These include:
- Stay home when sick. (Sick Day Policy)
- All eligible individuals in the CDS community are encouraged to become vaccinated as soon as possible.
- Practice physical distancing
- As of January 1, 2022 face masks are required to be worn indoors by all students in PreK-3 through grade 12, faculty/staff, and visitors
- We will continuously review community numbers and adjust as soon as rates of infection are again at moderate levels.
- Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after they blow their nose. (Hand washing guide)
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover coughs or sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and clean hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer (if soap and water are not readily available).

COVID-19 Vaccinations
Why get vaccinated?
- COVID 19-vaccines are effective. They can keep you from getting and spreading the virus that causes COVID-19.
- COVID-19 vaccines also help keep you from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19.
- Getting vaccinated yourself may also protect people around you, particularly people at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19 and those who cannot get vaccinated (like children younger than 5 years old).
- Individuals who are "fully vaccinated* are not required to quarantine if exposed to COVID-19.
- Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson's vaccine.
Those eligible to receive vaccines in Florida include:
- Individuals age 18 and older
- Individuals ages between 5 and 17 with parental or legal guardian consent and accompanied by parent or legal guardian at the time the vaccine is administered.
Those eligible to receive boosters in Florida include:
- Everyone age 16 and older can receive a booster shot five months after completing their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series or six months after receiving their second Moderna vaccine. The booster interval for people who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is two months.
