Continuing her work with The Broadway Sinfonietta organization, CDS Class of 2017 graduate, Leah Vicencio has been hard at work over the last couple of months. Working with other Broadway enthusiasts and artists to keep the spirit of Broadway alive and raise money to support the Actors Fund, Leah and thousands of TikTok creators created a musical based on Disney Pixar's "Ratatouille."
With no real leadership or direction, the show grew organically from content that arose from TikTok creators. By the time the idea for a one-time streaming event starting January 1st came to fruition there were Emmy nominated broadway actors committed, television stars signed on, Tony winners and nominees excited to be a part of it and the newest Broadway hit Six co-creator, Lucy Moss at the helm. The virtual benefit performance has since raised over $1 million for the Actors Fund.
As Managing Director and Head of Marketing at The Broadway Sinfonietta, Leah worked on the producing team with Seaview Productions for the show. The Broadway Sinfonietta is an all women-identifying, majority women-of-color orchestral collective with the mission to support the existence, excellence, and equity of female bipoc (Black Indigenous People of Color) musicians, orchestrators, and contractors in the broadway industry.
CDS is so proud of Leah and the work she is doing with SheNYC Arts and The Broadway Sinfonietta. Keep up the great work!
